people who loooove nature and get awestruck by its beauty and mystery. And yes, I'm one of those who people probably snicker about when I express my wonder for the incomprehensible intricacies that describe our planet Earth and universe. (snicker haha) It all just reminds you of God in the end, though . . . .
One body of nature that just...palpitates my heart (LOL) when I even just think about it is the ocean. Growing up in Cali, I've always enjoyed the ocean, but I realized my love for it maybe 2 or 3 years ago when my mom and I drove to Santa Monica on July 4th...at night. (We were driving around to gaze at passing fireworks and somehow ended up at the ocean haha.) 'But...you can't even see anything at night.' Riiight???? Strangely, though, that's exactly what entranced me. Looking out beyond the large rocks into the vast darkness was a bit eery, but it was still so breathtaking... Not being able to see where the sky meets the waters...somehow made it all one. And it was almost like looking at Genesis 1 in real life. At a distance, the short-lived fireworks at the pier were not enough to compete against the darkness that enveloped the sky and reflected off the ocean.
The vastness of the ocean just reminds me of God.
Yet, though that makes me think they're similar, they're two very different entities. ('duh')
The lyrics to the song 'Amazed' always comes to mind:
"How wide, how deep / How great is Your love for me" . . . . . . . .
I think of how wide and deep the ocean is whenever I sing this song,
and yet, His love is greater still.
That just.....shatters my mind! It's wider, it's deeper! Than even the whole earth, the whole universe. More than I can comprehend with my teeny brain, more than I can imagine with my puny mind!
. . . . .
. . .
.
Anyhow,
that is why I love the ocean. And how it acts somehow like a mirror. But I think that's for another post entirely (if I get around to it . . . )

learn to love.
{Living Life: quote from The Purpose Driven Life by Rick Warren}
{felt a heavy need to repost}
❝Life is all about love.
Because God is love, the most important lesson He wants you to learn on earth is how to love. It is in loving that we are most like Him, so love is the foundation of every command he has given us: "The whole Law can be summed up in this one command: 'Love others as you love yourself.'"
Learning to love unselfishly is not an easy task. It runs counter to our self-centered nature. That's why we're given a lifetime to learn it...
Why does God insist that we give special love and attention to other believers? Why do they get priority in loving? Because God wants his family to be known for its love more than anything else. Jesus said our love for each other--not our doctrinal beliefs--is our greatest witness to the world. He said, "Your strong love for each other will prove to the world that you are my disciples."
In heaven we will enjoy God's family forever, but first we have some tough work to do here on earth to prepare ourselves for an eternity of loving. God trains us by giving us "family responsibilities," and the foremost of these is to practice loving each other.
God wants you to be in regular, close fellowship with other believers so you can develop the skill of loving. Love cannot be learned in isolation. You have to be around people--irritating, imperfect, frustrating people....❞
